The Y pieces are too short to reach.It seems to be a good quality cable though, at a great price. I bought it to power an external hard drive from my PowerBook laptop, which has two USB ports on either side of the keyboard.
One arm of this cord is for power only. This turned out not to be what I thought it was. I wanted to have two computers print to one printer.

The harddrive wouldn't work on my Dell laptop through one port. Pros: Works like a charm.Cons: a bit pricey.I bought this because I needed more power than what was available in one USB port to power my Western Digital MyEssential external hardrive.
Doesn't transfer data. The grey USB seems to be only a power socket. Just be aware before you buy. I must have misunderstood what this thing was. I thought I would be able to use this thing to hook up my two computers to my printer but I couldn't.
